Edwin Williamson is the King Alfonso XIII Professor of Spanish Studies in the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He has written extensively on Latin America and the Golden Age of Spain. His books include The Penguin History of Latin America which is currently being updated for publication in 2009, and Borges, A Life (Viking Penguin, 2004) which is being translated into nine languages.
