Daniel Shapiro’s translations from Cipango appeared in The American Poetry Review (Tomás Harris cover-feature, September/ October 1997), BOMB, Chelsea, and Grand Street. He received a 2003 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts to complete his translation of Cipango. The bilingual collection was published by Bucknell University Press in 2010. He has received an additional NEA fellowship and a grant from the PEN Translation Fund to translate a short-story collection by Mexican writer Roberto Ransom. Shapiro, also a poet, is Director of Literature and Editor of Review magazine at the Americas Society in New York. |
